I’d forgotten the fun of shopping online for books that could be immediately downloaded but I’ve had fun rediscovering it this weekend. Yes, I have. Plus looking up authors I’d missed lately because they were only in ebook was interesting. A little frustrating but definitely interesting.

So, far, I’ve bought these:

  • Laurens, Stephanie: To Distraction – This is the newest Bastion Club novel and I thoroughly enjoyed it, probably because the heroine had a rather unusual, er, hobby or maybe vocation would be a better word.
  • Garner, Sharon K.: The Spaniard’s Cross – I’ve read ebooks by her before and really enjoyed them so I felt safe trying this one. Her romances are definitely on the sweet side but since her mysteries/adventures are usually pretty good I never notice the lack.
  • Gaines, Alice: Moon of the Jaguar – The description dealing with reincarnated Mayan lovers sounded interesting and there isn’t any mention of erotica but the only mention I can find of the author is connected with a Secrets anthology, so we shall see.
  • Pillow, Michelle M.: Dragon Lords & Lords of Var groups (eight books total) – I’ve been eyeing this author for a while now, I think mainly because it seems like barbarian comes up at least once in most of her book descriptions, so you figure out the attraction :D. I’ve been undecided whether to try her books, though, since most seem to be tending towards erotica. OTOH, I haven’t seen anyone actually review one of them but they are labeled “spicy” by the publisher so I figured it would be, ahem, safe. Or at the very least something a little different. ;p (Hey, I’m not against erotica specifically. I just want to know that’s what I’m getting before I start reading. 😀)

One thing that really surprised me when I started browsing the eBookwise catalog – I haven’t actually gotten past that yet to other “stores” – is how many print authors have their old and sometimes new books offered there. This may drastically cut down on my print purchases. Not sure if that’s a good thing or not yet, but it will save on shelf space.

  1. I’ve most of the Dragon Lords books too, I think. I enjoyed the ones I read so far.

  2. My beef with online books is that I hate to read on-screen, kills my eyes. But I’m too cheap to waste ink and paper printing them. LOL.

  3. Oh, go buy Dee Tenorio’s book from Samhain. Betting Hearts, I think. I, Karen S and Mrs. Giggles all liked it. It definitely is not an erotica. Also, get converlit gui (google it) so you can buy books at Powells.com and SimonSays.com. Most of the time, those two places sell it cheaper than at Fictionwise.

  4. Angie: give me time. I’ll get there. 😉

Nicole: Fun is good. Very good. I read the first yesterday and got halfway through the second Dragon Lord book before finally going to bed around midnight last night. So, I guess you could say I was pretty impressed with them so far. I did chuckle a lot which for me is a good sign. 😀

  5. I’ve read most of Michelle’s Dragon Lords books. They’re pretty fun. Nothing serious, but fun.

  6. *sigh*

Not one Samhain book in the bunch 😉

Michelle has a very nice writing style, I enjoy her books.
