And I’m checking an image I may add to it. I like this theme’s simplicity and also that it’s fluid three column, although I may play with adding some images to it because it’s almost too simple. Oh, well, can’t have it all. Now to work out the glitches and restructure the sidebars. That may take a couple of days.Read More →

I started out the week binging on those ebooks by Michelle M. Pillow. Then somewhere around Wednesday I started coming down with whatever my son had over last weekend, i.e. sore throat, lots of congestion and just plain feeling yucky. So, yesterday I ended up sleeping most of the day with only brief moments of conciousness for bathroom and food breaks. I also barely looked at TV or books the entire day. Not sure how much better I feel but I definitely caught up on my sleep. 😀 As to the Pillow books, I’m really enjoying them. Well, considering that I’ve read seven straight, oneRead More →

I’d forgotten the fun of shopping online for books that could be immediately downloaded but I’ve had fun rediscovering it this weekend. Yes, I have. Plus looking up authors I’d missed lately because they were only in ebook was interesting. A little frustrating but definitely interesting. So, far, I’ve bought these: Laurens, Stephanie: To Distraction – This is the newest Bastion Club novel and I thoroughly enjoyed it, probably because the heroine had a rather unusual, er, hobby or maybe vocation would be a better word. Garner, Sharon K.: The Spaniard’s Cross – I’ve read ebooks by her before and really enjoyed them so IRead More →

Quick post to say I just got my own eBookwise Reader so I know what I’m going to be doing the rest of the day – installing, registering it and then purchasing me some ebooks. Er, any suggestions? I’ve seen so many recs in the last few months, I’m not sure where to start. ;pRead More →

I’m still chewing on the discussion going on over on Dear Author. This time it was a comment by Robin that caught my attention. I also realize that not everyone is aiming for greater understanding across the author-reader divide, that some people are completely comfortable with the separatist position. I have absolutely no problem with that, either. I just tend to gravitate in the direction of bridges. I read that and I knew bridge was the wrong analogy entirely but I wasn’t sure why. It took me a while and some doodling to figure it out but this is what I came up with. BridgingRead More →

There’s a discussion going on over on Dear Author about readers buying used books. Well, that’s not entirely the point of the discussion, which is why I decided to retreat to my own blog to think about one of the points made in relative peace and quiet. So, what got me to tapping my fingers and thinking about this way more than it deserves? Someone, I believe Alison Kent, said in a comment there: Yes, the posts preached to many members of the choir – but, they could also reached a lot of silent people who have never realized how authors earn their money. One ofRead More →

I may be missing in action for the next day or so because we have a family reunion in town tomorrow and the mom and sis are coming in for the weekend. Thankfully they’re staying at a motel. Love’em, but I need my space. 😀 In other news, whilst running errands like mad today I picked up Love is Blind by Lynsay Sands – link to be added later when I have more time. I’ve been sort of avoiding hers lately but the back blurb on this one hooked me so I had to check out the nearsighted Regency heroine’s adventures and her large blurRead More →

Do the rest of you ever feel like many of your favorite authors are midlist and even rather obscure authors that no one else ever talks about? I do and one of them for me is Donna Fletcher. I believe she has books out with both Zebra and Avon. (Are they lines from the same publisher? I can’t remember. And yes, I do admit to loving many of Avon’s books and I’m not ashamed of it either. ;p) Anyway, I have most if not all of her backlist I think. Not quite sure about that but it’s close. They’re not my favorites but they are definitely comfortableRead More →

I’ve been in a truly bizarre reading mood for the last week. I’d actually revisited several old favorites before I realized what I was doing, too. In each case, I picked a pivotal scene about midway through the book, reread/skimmed to the end of the book, then started over at the beginning and continued until I reached the scene again. This isn’t a momentary aberation either because we’re talking about about around a dozen books just in the last week. I’d tell you which books but I think I’ve lost track. ;p I have no idea why I’m doing it, either. Anyone else ever done this? Oh, andRead More →

If I’m on an “unofficial” vampire romance strike – and I say unofficial there because while I haven’t acutally made a concious decision to stop buying/reading them, I do tend to shy away from them a lot lately - I suddenly felt the need this weekend to record both Underworld and Underworld: Evolution on TIVO. Then watched both of them, one right after another. And really liked them.  I’ve tried telling myself that it was the werewolf element that drew me. Not the vampire, uh, stuff. Uh-huh. And you know what really gets me? Put the two movies together and they’re a pretty good romance. Complete withRead More →

This is just a quick note to let everyone know that I probably won’t be posting much at all for the next few days because I pulled a muscle in my lower back around lunchtime yesterday, although I’m still trying to figure out how. One minute I was moving an empty TV table across the floor and the next I was on my knees in a lot of pain. Four hours later after taking some of the pain meds I have for my migraines and the pain only getting worse, I knew I wasn’t going to be able to make it until today without help so endedRead More →

I feel like I haven’t gotten anything done. Okay, I haven’t. I think I had a couch potato brain dead day after real life kept me running around busy the last few days. So, I checked the Internet but didn’t post much and haven’t read anything all day. While sitting staring into space I watched a few programs recorded on TIVO, so it wasn’t a total loss. Oh, and I also managed to grab a few minutes of lucidity to catch up on responding to comments here, so if you’ve left any in the last few days, check them. If I’ve completely missed any, yell here. Not too loudly, though, becauseRead More →

I bought not one but two trade paperbacks today. What is the world coming to? Actually, it’s all Mark’s fault because he was with me at the store since he’d just had a doctor’s appointment and he was the one who brought them to my attention. Then I made a mistake of trying to explain that Luna was supposed to be a crossover line between romance and science fiction/fantasy. So, naturally, he had to ask why I wasn’t trying them . . . with this look in his eyes that said he would if I did. Sons! They know us too well. Oh, yes. The books.Read More →
