My god, they’re everywhere. I’m out of it for a day or two with a virus and when I come back seems like every other update to my subscription list on Bloglines today had a post about reviews.

And, no, I’m not posting any of the links here, either. Are you people crazy? Why perpetuate the madness? (BG)

I do have a question that popped into my head while reading a couple of the posts. (Yes, I read them but just couldn’t bring myself to comment. At least, not yet. Maybe after my stomach settles more. ;-p) Anyway, it occurs to me wonder something and this is real curiosity not sarcasm. What is the reasoning exactly behind the belief that honest and/or negative, um, er, reviews will generate respect for romances? ‘Cause I don’t see it. Really, I don’t so I must be missing a major piece of the logic behind it.

Assuming, of course, that by reviews in this context we mean recommendations for readers. (Remember, audience is the crucial word here at all times.) That being the case, to me, it’s preaching to the choir either way and that’s not going to change anything respect-wise from the outside.

Then again, maybe that’s why I don’t (can’t?) get all worked up over this neverending discussion to begin with.
