Oh, get your minds out of the gutter. I mean I’m literally scratching an itch. Several of them in fact in the form of a widespread rash. It started last night around 9:30 PM at my hairline and slowly spread to cover almost literally from my head to my toes. The doctor called it a systemic allergic reaction to something unknown (at this point, anyway) and started me on steriods and heavy-duty antihistamines. So, expect me to be scarce for the next few days until I can sit at the desk without squirming and scratching.

The flip side is that if I’m not asleep most of the time over the next day or so, I’ll probably be reading. I seem to be on a Krentz kick.

  1. I’m back and doing much better. The “spots” are pretty much gone but I’m still having a problem with the palm’s of my hands itching like crazy at times. That particular problem only started yesterday and seems to be the last annoying symptom. I just finished the steriod med-pack today so we shall see what happens in the next day or so.

  2. I’ve had this happen, but as soon as I feel the itch I start taking benadryl like a fiend. I’ve never had to go on steroids, but have had to take prescription antihistamines. My allergist thinks it’s a food allergy gone crazy.

Glad to hear your down to “a few residual spots” and hope your feeling completely better soon.

  3. Forgot to mention- if it ever happens again try oatmeal baths (Aveeno’s is great). Hope you’re better~

  4. As far as I can remember I did nothing nothing out of the ordinary the day all this started and didn’t use or eat anything new, so I have no idea. The doctor said that many times they never figure out what causes these types of reactions so not to worry about it unless it won’t go away or comes back immediately. Then we’ll have to do some further investigation.

This morning I still have a few residual spots but for the most part the itching has stopped.

  5. Oh my goodness! Have you tried backtracking to see what could have caused such a reaction? Definitely get some sleep so you won’t want to scratch!

    Get Better!

  6. They seem to be working and the hives aren’t as intense already so hopefully I’ll be mostly better in a day or so. Of course, I’m really, really sleepy at the moment but that might be more because I didn’t get much sleep last night. 😉

  7. Two of my kids have had those- very, very YUCKY. Hope your drugs work & you feel better soon~
