I need a new reading lamp because I’ve decided I don’t have a decent one in my entire house, which strikes me as outrageous all things considered. ;O No, really, the ones I have are either too weak or shine the light in the wrong place. The one on my bedside table is actually starting to give me a crick in my neck besides.

The problem is that I need to know what to look for before I start shopping. What type of bulbs, shades, stands, etc., are truly the best for extended reading pleasure? So, what are your personal recommendations? What works for you and what have you learned to avoid?

Next, I think we’ll talk chairs because I believe I’m in the mood to outfit a reading corner just for me, one piece at a time. Hey, I deserve it. 😀

  1. Yeah, good lighting does make one’s vision better. 😀

A bulb in my line of sight is part of the problem I’m having with my bedside lamp, so that’s definitely something I want to avoid. It’s also a 3-way light and I can’t ever seem to find the right level combination to use in it.

  2. I am having the worst time with lighting. I always say on vampire time (I sleep during the day) but I swear my husband is the true vampire. One light to light huge living room! I went to the eye doctor cause I thought maybe I was losing my sight. Turns out my one eye is better than 20/20 and the other not so bad.

Also, those energy efficient bulbs make my eyes tired. Oh and make sure when you are reading the bulb isn’t in your line of sight. Probably a given but sometimes those downward facing lamps seem too close.

Good luck! You should post a pic of what you get!
