Over the weekend, Mark and I were eyeing a couple of books/series, one of which is very much out of our normal comfort zone and the other no so much but still different for me, so I thought I’d ask in anyone has read either.

The first that we decided not to get was People of the Wolf by W. Michael Gear & Kathleen O’Neal Gear (The First North Americans series). As far as I can tell, this is straight history only prehistoric in nature, if that makes sense. There appear to be about 12 books so far, with WOLF being the first. Have to admit, the entire concept appeals to me in a certain way but I seriously need a lot more information about it before I’d be willing to take the plunge on even the first book.

The second, Mark decided to get and has already started reading and liking – His Majesty’s Dragon by Naomi Novik (Temeraire series). But then he likes dragons and fantasy so how could he go wrong there? I actually pointed this group out to him because I’d heard about it online a lot but I’m still not really sure I want to read them. So, here’s the big question, any romance present it the trilogy? (Yeah, big surprise that that could tip the scales for me.)

  1. That’s what I was thinking, Jane, but I just wanted to be prepared. Hey, I can read outside the genre. I just like knowing what I’m getting into. 😀

Now, if I can only find out more about the other series.

  2. Not really unless you call the romance between the dragon and his handler, Will Laurence. Bev, I am the biggest romance fan out there. I rarely read outside the genre and I loved this.
