I started out the week binging on those ebooks by Michelle M. Pillow. Then somewhere around Wednesday I started coming down with whatever my son had over last weekend, i.e. sore throat, lots of congestion and just plain feeling yucky. So, yesterday I ended up sleeping most of the day with only brief moments of conciousness for bathroom and food breaks. I also barely looked at TV or books the entire day. Not sure how much better I feel but I definitely caught up on my sleep. 😀
As to the Pillow books, I’m really enjoying them. Well, considering that I’ve read seven straight, one would think so. ;p I have one more to read that I already have then I have to hunt down the last of the Lords of the Var group. It wasn’t in the eBookwise catalog for some strange reason, so I may have to get it in another format and convert.
I will admit that I enjoyed the Dragon Lords group a lot more than this second group. Maybe it was the novelty of reading four stories that were happening concurrently with each other but they were a fascinating read. Okay to explain how that works, just a little, the set-up is that all four of the Dragon Lord princes take part in the yearly Breeding Celebration on their planet to chose a mate from the contracted Earth brides and each find one. So each of the couple’s stories more or less start at the Celebration and continue for about 2 weeks after, overlapping in events and circumstances. There is some repetition of major scenes but usually from different perspectives and there’s also something new and unique to each story, all of which keeps it interesting. They should probably be read in order even for all that, however.
In contrast, the Lords of the Var books are sequential and as interesting in one respect but seem to lean more heavily towards erotic romance than the first four. I’m not sure if it’s because I got to know the other group from so many angles but these characters don’t seem nearly as deep as the others to me. And their stories seem to end much more abruptly. It would probably be informative to read something else by her not connected to this world just to see if I feel the same.
Now, I’m off to put the finishing touches on my first Romancing the Blog post, which goes online Sept. 12.
Hope you are feeling better!!
