Oh, get your minds out of the gutter. I’m not talking about that. I’m talking about story length. Yeah, I know, got you all excited and then ruined it, didn’t I? Well, deal with it and move on. ;p Anyway, the thing is, I was looking for some new ebooks on the Ebookwise site, I found myself getting irritated at having to wade through the “print” published books that I can already find on the store shelves in search of the shorter ones from the electronic publishers I was looking for in the first place. So irritated that I ended up having to go directlyRead More →

I picked up several books the other day while grocery shopping and can’t decide which to read first. Part of me wants to read the Laurens but I’m also in the mood for the Foster. Then there’s the paranormal anthology, which curiously enough has “Never Before Published” on the front cover. Both odd and good that, considering how many books are being reprinted nowadays. Maybe something one of you will say will help me decide which one to start off with after I tell you which ones they are. What Price Love by Stephanie Laurens – It’s strange but even knowing that Dillon, Demon HarryRead More →

That about sums it up, too. Because I have been reading a lot lately. Went through a Garwood binge and reread about seven of her books. Not one after another, mind you, but two or three at a time. In-between reading them I also reread a couple of others that and also managed to fit in an Ebookwise buying spree. I’ll try to sit down and tally up the entire list of books later today. What I’m wanting to share at the moment is that how anti-blogging I’ve been during all this. Oh, I’ve been lurking and browsing but not even doing much commenting andRead More →

I love playing computer strategy games and will sometimes spend my “reading time” on them when I’m not in the mood to pick up another book or watch TV. My favorite is the Civilizations series. I like Civilizations because it’s one of those games where you basically start from scratch and build everything up. It’s a long game though for that reason. One of my son’s favorites is Black & White but it took him a while to get me hooked on it. I think that was probably because it has a rather strange twist from the other games I’m used to. You see inRead More →

Okay, Alien Romances is fast becoming my new favorite group author blog due to the rather off-beat nature of their posts most of the time. Sometimes they’re a little long and, erm, technical for my tastes but I just ignore those. So that’s okay, too. Rowena Cherry’s post yesterday was just such a . . . . well, I’ll let you go amuse yourself, children. 😀 I don’t think I’ve ever read one of her books but I just may have to check one out if that’s a sample of her sense of humor. Hehehe.Read More →

I am in a really weird reading mood. I think’s all due to Games of Command being so good, too. I’m actually beginning to suspect it’s spoiled me for anything else temporarily. How else to explain the fact that I sort of turn my nose up at every single thing I’ve looked at in the last week? I even tried going in the opposite direction and maybe reading a historical. An old favorite comfort read. A favorite author. Nothing works. I can’t even conjure up what type of story I’m in the mood for out of the depths of my brain. Truly weird.Read More →

I’ve recently gotten hooked on watching these mysteries on the Biography Channel. I love the quirkiness of the characters, particularly Barnaby himself, and as it’s been a while since I’ve tried out a new mystery detective to read I wondered about the books they were based on. A quick web search only turned up only fan sites for the TV series however. So, anyone read some of the books and can give me a run down on how they compare? Also, how many of them are there?Read More →

Although I do love that movie more than any of the other Godzilla movies I’ve seen. So sue me, I’m not a purist. ;p Anyway, there’s this article in the news yesterday about a komodo dragon fertilizing her own eggs. Well, I found it fascinating. Apparently, it’s not all that unusual for reptiles. Who knew? (Not me for sure.) Talk about removing the romance from things though!Read More →

I like the new theme. A lot. Not least of which because it let’s me keep my sidebar widgets. But did something truly weird to the YouTube embed I did a couple of posts back. Help, Jane. (Did that sound pathetic enough? ‘Cause I can do much better, er worse if need be. ;p) Are the rest of you seeing it or not when you view that post? I’m not even getting a link to the YouTube video. EDITED: I fixed it myself by going back to make sure 1) the video still existed on YouTube and 2) the embed code was still correct. TheRead More →

I’m on my way out the door heading for a doctor’s appointment but I just had to post this. (When I get back, I promise to be a good girl and catch up on responding to comments that I’m way behind on.) In the meantime, here’s something to chew on whilst I’m out and about. I think this thing over at Dear Author has fried my brain but it did get me to thinking – always dangerous – and I started wondering what subgenres we could, ahem, temporarily borrow from other genres and give a distinctly romance twist. So far I’ve only come up withRead More →

Of course, that assumes I know what normal is, which I have my doubts about but we can only hope. ;) Anyway, today I figured I would work on doing some housekeeping around here. Not on the house. Lord, no. I don’t have that much energy yet. On this blog. I wanted to clean up the categories list for one thing. Since that may take a couple of hours, that’ll also probably be all I get done on it today too. I am feeling a lot better but I’m still not over this dratted asthmatic bronchitis and have to pace myself through the day. Yeah, that wasRead More →

Earlier in the week, I watched the DVD of Batman Begins and yesterday I watched Superman Returns. I really, really like Batman Begins. It’s a great superhero/secret identity movie. Not the greatest, mind you, but definitely a good “hero finding his place” story. Superman Returns, on the other hand, leaves me with extremely mixed emotions. On the one hand, it’s a pretty good movie for the franchise. Really. I can admit that. Storywise, it’s excellent. It’s just that where it ends Lois and Clark’s relationship leaves something to be desired. Actually quite a lot to be desired. Quite frankly, the romance reader in me ends up with a sourRead More →

I finally caved and decided to get a doctor’s appointment this afternoon, even though I’m better. Sort of. Well, I’m not coughing as much. I thought I was doing a lot better Tuesday but today I feel like whatever it is has moved into my chest. Not good. So I figured it wouldn’t be a bad idea to get it checked out anyway. On another front, I seem to remember someone mentioned at one time that there was a way to play around with modifying a WordPress template away from your own blog. Anyone know where that was? Or how to do that? Cause that’s whatRead More →
