About a year, maybe more ago, I had an idea of trying to do something to more or less catalog all the shifter books I’d been reading during my “shifter phase” as I was so fondly calling it at that time. Catalog and more or less dedicate the site to talking about them. Well, apparently I’m still in that phase and going strong. Life, however, threw me a curve and I didn’t quite get around to getting them all catalogued.
So, anyway, the number of books I have along those lines has now gotten completely and totally unmanageable. To the point that I’m currently in the middle of a serious project off-line attempting to get them all cataloged into my Readerware database. It wouldn’t be that difficult if most of them weren’t electronic and not easily automatically entered into the program.
The biggest problem isn’t entering them initially, however, but figuring out how to fill out the rest of the information. I don’t mean the basic book information. I mean the specifics of interest to myself related to both the shifter sub-genre and the fact that most of them are erotic romances. Do you realize how little specific information is available pre-purchase, even from review or even point of purchase sites? Have you ever bought a book and thought you were getting one thing and actually got something completely different? Somehow, simply saying it’s sizzling just doesn’t cut it. ;p When one is talking erotic romances in today’s market, that can mean a lot of things.
More on all this as I work through cataloging and blogging in earnest.
