Mainly because The Why Files is quite possibly one of, if not the, best YouTube channel I’ve ever run across. But, why?
Well, first, here is AJ’s description of his content:
“The Why Files is a channel for people who are fascinated (obsessed) with mysteries, myths, legends and conspiracies. We tell stories, seek the truth, and have a few laughs along the way.”
The Why Files: About
It very much lives up to that description, too. And then some. But it’s not the subject matter, precisely, that makes this channel so good. It’s the way AJ presents it. He starts out by telling the “story” of whatever the current topic is in a way that could make you believe it. That, yeah, whatever it is could’ve actually happened. He is a phenomenal storyteller, too. After that build-up, though, he goes over the pros, the cons, the debunked and the not debunked aspects of the tale. Then he leaves the watcher to decide what they believe and what they don’t buy. It’s actually rather unsettling when he doesn’t debunk something.
Anyway, it’s a fascinating process to watch. Totally binge worthy. Okay, I’ll admit that I haven’t watched every single video on the channel. Yet. But I’m getting very close. Like I said, very binge-able.
Here’s a short sample:
