I’ve been in a really big reading mood this week. I’ve already reread several of Shelly Laurenston’s Pride books. It’s my absolute favorite comfort food romance series right now. And I read it over and over again. Sometimes multiple times a year.
Here’s the thing, though. I was looking something up about one of the books and realized I hadn’t actually installed a library app on my new phone yet. I’ve been using an app called Book Catalogue for years. Which has always been a good app. However before putting it on the new phone I noticed it hadn’t been updated in… well, years.
Not a good sign. Which made me pause and reevaluate using it.
Now, one of the reasons I like Book Catalogue is that it works offline but syncs with Goodreads. Which I pay attention to only sporadically, I’ll admit. But I do use it. So basically I’m now on the hunt for another catalog app that hopefully syncs with Goodreads.
My daughter uses LibraryThing. As far as I can tell, it imports from Goodreads but doesn’t sync. Of course one of the pluses of LibraryThing is that it will catalog more than books.
I’m not sold on it yet, however. And so the search goes on…
As part of my ongoing research I found this article:
Not sure it helped because most of those are readers or point of sale apps for e-books. Which is all well and good but most of my book collection is paperback. That’s changing but I still need something for the “old” stuff. Sigh.
Meanwhile I think I’m going to play around with LibraryThing but continue to use Book Catalogue. Until I can’t. Which the way it was acting after I finally installed it could be sooner than I expect.
So what do you use to catalog your collection? Because I need suggestions. Feel free to comment here or on Facebook, Tumblr or Pinterest. I share all my posts to those three.
