I saw a book in the grocery story yesterday and passed on it then. Now, I’m wondering if I’m going to have to rethink that after doing some online research. It was by an author I’ve read and enjoyed in the past, true – Kathleen Nance. Really liked her Olympian and Djinn books. Phoenix Unrisen is labeled romantic suspense, though, and so I paused before picking it up. I’m not real hot on that nowadays.
Then when I looked Phoenix Unrisen up on Amazon a little while ago, bells started going off because the names mentioned in the descriptions sounded familiar. That didn’t click yesterday. So, I checked Nance’s website and sure enough, it’s connected to her Djinn books but not in a direct sequence with them. The hero is a brother to one of the heroines from one of those books. And there are magical elements in the book. Interesting.
Now, I’m really, really dithering. Do the pros outweigh the cons? Hmm.
I am also cautious about romance suspense novels because some of them just aren’t what they are hyped up to be. Only a few have made my list of top romance/suspense novels. Coinage of Commitment is on the top of my list, while I’ll haven’t read Phoenix Unrisen yet, I will put it on my consider list to read later.
I almost passed up The Other Boleyn Girl. Thankfully my husband pushed me to buy it. So far, the book is amazing!
