Really hilarious.  Okay, full disclosure. I watched the first season or so of the Merlin TV series when it first aired. And then it just got too ridiculous for me. Or ridiculous and overly dramatic. Oh, I don’t know how to put it. It was kind of like watching some bizarre fractured fairy tale and while most of the time that works for me, hence the attempt at liking it, this one just didn’t work. I did, however, watch the series finale after it went off the air and I may eventually watch it all the way through. So I’m not giving up. Having saidRead More →

Okay, did anyone besides me also not know that The Green Hornet was the grand-something of The Lone Ranger?

Because honestly, I did not know this. Or if I ever did at any point it was buried so far back into my subconscious that it was lost in a memory black hole. But he was related. In the original radio broadcast he was the grandson/grand-nephew of The Lone Ranger because that broadcast was a spin-off of The Lone Ranger radio show. And then that little tidbit got lost when it went into TV because of ownership issues. Does it crop up every once in a while? I don’t know. I haven’t seen the recent movies. Any comments on that? I did some digging. NotRead More →

While I was on vacation (hence the lack of posts recently) I found out Babylon 5 was streaming on Amazon Prime now and I immediately started binging on it. As in being on vacation but not traveling so have some time to kill and suddenly the only thing I’m doing besides eating and sleeping is watching this show type binging. You know it’s a lot easier to binge shows that only have 13 episode per season… with Babylon 5 we’re talking at least 20 episodes so it’s taking awhile. Needless to say vacation’s over and I’m still binging when I have the time. So far I’veRead More →

Agatha Christie's Poiro

Homes Used In Poirot Episodes – Chimni Wiki

I’ve always wondered about the homes/buildings used in the Poirot series. I ran across this article and literally went “Yes”. While Poirot was set in the 1930s, the designers for the long-running ITV series tried to avoid delivering a kitsche Art-Deco celebration. The producers, led by Brian Eastman were true to spirit of the more important International Moderne. In a recent Guardian article, Eastman said “..the TV set was 30s ‘moderne’, not actually Art Deco, because Agatha Christie had explained in a profile of Poirot that Art Deco was too flamboyant for him”.[1]. That is not to say that the Poirot TV episodes weren’t aRead More →

I like to rewatch and reread things. I know this. It’s like a craving to revisit favorites at times. Lately I’ve been in the mood to rewatch the tv series Fringe. The problem is that it’s not available on any streaming service that I have access to. At least that I’ve been able to find. You know when I first started watching that series, I wasn’t even sure I was going to like it. But I did and it’s become one of my all time favorites. Didn’t hurt that it has a very strong, if quirky, romance in it.Read More →

Is anyone else watching the Alice mini-series that’s the “grown-up version” of Alice In Wonderland/Through The Looking Glass showing on SyFy this week? I am primarily because I absolutely loved the Tin Man they did last year based on The Wizard of Oz. That was last year, wasn’t it? Anyway, I absolutely loved that and fully intend to get it on DVD eventually. Oh, it had it’s bad points but it was so imaginative I can forgive those just for the storytelling experience. It was also longer, six or eight hours or more maybe while this one is only four, plus I’m a much bigger fanRead More →

I may be a little distracted from thinking about books over the next week or so since I bought a copy of the new season one Lois & Clark DVD yesterday. Good thing I currently have a small backlog of blog posts ready to go online. (G) God, I miss this series, though. It’s not just that it had a fantastic romantic comedy emphasis or that there was such amazing chemistry between the two leads, Dean Cain & Teri Hatcher. It’s all that and the fact that it was a more grown-up approach to the Superman myth, taking it out of the adolescent stage ofRead More →

Having recently rediscovered this TV series, I’m absolutely amazed at how much I really do love it. I remember watching it while it was in first run on CBS and how much I enjoyed it then, but what gets me is how much it still makes me laugh. And giggle. And guffaw. Fluff? Sure. But good fluff, if you know what I mean. Comfortable with a sense of fun that doesn’t hurt anyone in the process. Will it become a true classic that stands the test of time? I honestly don’t know. I do know that so many of the series that were lauded asRead More →

Just found this headline on CNN: ‘JAG’ ending after 10-year run’ And I’m torn. On the one hand, I really liked this series when it first came out. On the other, I haven’t watched it regularly in about three years. About the time Mac got engaged to Brumby. Talk about a big turnoff. So, maybe this is a good thing . . .Read More →
