I like to rewatch and reread things. I know this. It’s like a craving to revisit favorites at times. Lately I’ve been in the mood to rewatch the tv series Fringe. The problem is that it’s not available on any streaming service that I have access to. At least that I’ve been able to find. I had already decided I wasn’t going to comment on the topic of the Superman/Wonder Woman hook-up, because frankly I’m not all that invested in the outcome one way or another. A couple of weeks ago, Heather from The Galaxy Express approached me and asked if I’d be interested in participating in a round robin type feature on SF site discussing SF romances. Somehow it just doesn’t look like a romantic treehouse to me Maybe more like something out of a sci-fi novel. Or a horror movie. Seriously. I can’t figure out if the picture creeps me out or intrigues me to no end but it definitely caught my attention and made me want to read the article about architects who are experimenting with “growing” buidings using trees grown around metals. I just bought a vampire romance from Samhain. Yeah, I know. I’m supposed to hate them. I finished Games of Command by Linnea Sinclair last night and have to admit I was just blow away by how she back-tracked and expanded the story. It wasn’t at all what I expected. It was so much better. Tighter. Developed. You know, I could’ve sworn I didn’t have all that many pirates pillaging through my romances but when I checked my Readerware I discovered almost 25. Who’d have thought. Okay, I don’t normally get all excited about covers but I really like the one on the new Jayne Castle book, Ghost Hunter. There are two threads going on over at DearAuthor.com that fascinate me. One is False Advertising? and the other is The Changing Face of Romance . . .Or not?. I still haven’t had a chance to sit down and write out comments on either of the books I just read but as I was putting up the books I bought last week, I realized that I’d mentioned the Fobes one but not the other. Since The Captain’s Woman by Merline Lovelace came out in 2003 it’s moved right up to the top of my personal comfort reread list (surpassing even The Bride by Julie Garwood some of the time I might add, which is saying quite a lot) for the simple reason that it has it all- an intelligent but not so much spoiled as indulged young heroine who goes on both an emotional and physical journey/adventure, truly growing up in the process a not-so-old but definitely more mature hero who is extremely honorable if somewhat dense at times who also does his share of growing and changing aRead More →

Last week I bought the Hero, Come Back anthology and devoured it almost in one gulp.
