I wanted to do a quick update to let everyone know I’m still here. I’ve been fighting off bronchitis since the New Year. The doctor put me on antibiotics last week and I’m finally getting back to being able to focus. Put it this way, yesterday I started rereading an old favorite romance series. So I should be able to start working on the site this week. Not sure when I’ll post anything but will definitely be working on putting stuff together this week.Read More →

Me and Doctors……………

I think I’m back in fighting form, more or less. Haven’t been back to the doctor yet for more blood tests but I’m definitely feeling better and especially not as fatigued. That was starting to get old.  On the plus side, this weekend I was able to catch up on Doctor Who in anticipation of the new Doctor debuting on Oct 7. (Well, in Britian anyway.) Honestly, I have to admit that I have conflicted feelings about the next Doctor being a woman. On the one hand, I really like the idea of them finally going in that direction. On the other, though, I’m honestlyRead More →

When I decided to restart blogging on this site, I knew it would be a struggle at times due to other commitments as well as some minor health issues. Still I mentally set a goal to post regularly at least 2-4 times a week and worked out a plan to make it happen. Of course I knew that I might not reach that goal at all some weeks. To be honest, I’m in fairly good health for my age but I do have some issues that I have to deal with periodically. One of those cropped up a couple of weeks ago when I startedRead More →

The Cover Of A Book

When I was a very little girl, seriously elementary school age, I memorized a poem for class. This is the one I chose. This is also all I remember of it but it left an indelible impression on me. I wish I knew the author so that I can find the rest of it. The cover of a book is like a door That takes me to a place that I’ve not been to before A pirate or a fairy queen may wait inside for me I never know until I turn the page what wonders I shall seeRead More →

Taking the time to listen – to myself

Sometime last year I realized how tired I was of endlessly discussing romance novels online. Yeah, there I said it. Okay, to be fair, it wasn’t so much talking about them altogether as the repetitive way we romance fans tend to beat some topics surrounding them to death at times. That may or may not sound like a strange, rather contradictory thing to say, but it’s a true one, nonetheless. Then again, I also considered that maybe it had more to do with personal perspective than actual topic repetition. What I mean is simply this, as both a longtime reader of romances and someone whoRead More →

He’s the newest addition to our family, a smallish-sized pit bull mix we fondly call Bruno. (More on the significance of the name in a bit.) It’s possible he may be a future guest contributor to the blog if all goes well. Hey, he likes a good yarn, particularly if they’re action-oriented but he also has a soft spot for the mushy stuff, too, so we’re a good match. ;-). Here’s the thing, last year, we lost not one, but three long-time pets, two cats and a dog, all from old age. We still had two cats in the house both in their prime, so we weren’t activelyRead More →

I was going to post about this yesterday but for some reason my Internet connection was the absolute pits. I have a satellite connection and sometimes even when the connection says it’s okay, it just isn’t. Or maybe it was the Internet in general that was off. Whatever, yesterday it was funky as all get out. Some pages would load fast and others wouldn’t even half load. I couldn’t even get to my website admin pages so I finally just gave up. Anyway, back to the point of this post, for the last few weeks, blogging has been on the back burner big time. LongRead More →

Snow stuff

I have those glasses that darken with the sunlight. When I went outside the other day to get the mail and came back inside, they took forever to change back to regular after all that reflection off the snow. And the sun wasn’t even shining that day! I was walking around the house for several minutes wondering why it was so dark before I figured out what in the world had happened. That’s happened a couple of times in the summer but never in the winter that I can remember. The odd things is that I finally had to literally warm them up in my handsRead More →

I’m currently having a slight technical problem. My personal computer is fine but it’s not talking to the rest of the wide, wide world, meaning it needs a new ethernet card, and I probably won’t be able to get a new one until the middle of the week when the weather clears up a little around here. It’s not bad here – just a couple of inches of snow which should melt fast – but since I have most of my files/documents backed up on a cruzer and can use another computer to work on, I’m in no hurry to get out there if I don’t have to.Read More →

For the last couple of days, I’ve been distracted dealing with a family matter that in the grand scheme of things seems small but isn’t to us. My son’s dog is 16 years old and showing it now. He’d gotten to the point that he couldn’t get up and down and was having a lot trouble even navigating just the two steps we have on our front porch. Things had gotten bad for him in just the last few months and we were starting to worry about having to make a big decision soon. So, we took him to the vet this week and turns outRead More →

The last few weeks of my life are perfect examples of why I hesitated so long about getting back into blogging. My preference is to plan ahead and backlog posts rather to do them on the fly but life doesn’t always cooperate. Lately, it’s hasn’t cooperated at all. Do you know how frustrating it is to collect a bunch of stuff or have some great ideas for posts and no time to work on them? Or be completely frazzled when you do have time? Yeah, I bet some of you writer types know exactly what I’m talking about, don’t you? The reader types are probablyRead More →

Just to let you know, you’ll probably be seeing a flood of posts over the next several days as I get caught up with all the things on my mind, all the books I’ve bought in the last few days as well as attempt to get back into some type of schedule here. I’ve been more or less off-line for the last week or so due to my mother (who’s 84) being in the hospital out in Missouri (I’m in Kentucky). At first I wasn’t sure how serious it was and thought I was going to have to drop everything and immediately run out there. Then thingsRead More →

Just a quick post to let you know that I’m currently having some computer problems so I’m probably going to be lurking a little until I can figure out if it’s going to the shop or not. Technically, I will still have Internet access even so, I’m just preoccupied at the moment with doing triage on the machine at the moment, if you get my drift. 🙁 If that doesn’t work and it does have to go to the shop, then I’ll switch to plan B and another computer in the house temporarily. So, if I haven’t responded to any comments or stopped in the middleRead More →
