As I sorted through my collection, though, I realized that they also showed a lifetime of changes in the covers themselves. I was thinking the other day that I hadn’t updated my list of top favorite romances in quite a while. At least not since before I started reading more ebooks than print anyways. The first thing I found out Monday was that Robert Jordan, author of The Wheel of Time fantasy/science fiction series, had died. Bummer. Especially for my son, who is a such big fan. He’s actually met the man several times at signings so he’s been rather depressed about it all week. (I’d link to it but I’d misplaced the report I had saved, so just do a search for around last Sunday on that name and you should get something.) I finished Games of Command by Linnea Sinclair last night and have to admit I was just blow away by how she back-tracked and expanded the story. It wasn’t at all what I expected. It was so much better. Tighter. Developed. I recently got a promo from Amazon for The Truth About Love by Stephanie Laurens (Vane’s brother-in-law’s book) and while online ordering it, I suddenly remembered that I’ve never ordered Linnea Sinclair’s paperbacks. Part of my procrastination on this has to do with fear that being published in print will ruin her voice but on that day I was in the right mood I guess so decided to bite the bullet.
