As I sorted through my collection, though, I realized that they also showed a lifetime of changes in the covers themselves. I’m sort of vertical again and trying to decide what I’m in the mood to reread because I know I’m not in the mood to concentrate on something completely new at present. Since The Captain’s Woman by Merline Lovelace came out in 2003 it’s moved right up to the top of my personal comfort reread list (surpassing even The Bride by Julie Garwood some of the time I might add, which is saying quite a lot) for the simple reason that it has it all- an intelligent but not so much spoiled as indulged young heroine who goes on both an emotional and physical journey/adventure, truly growing up in the process a not-so-old but definitely more mature hero who is extremely honorable if somewhat dense at times who also does his share of growing and changing aRead More →

So, what to say about Prince Charming, an oldie but a goody? First of all, I know that this book is not one of the favorites of most Julie Garwood fans. Maybe I should say “classic Garwood” fans there, because this is definitely one that falls well between her beloved medievals and her more recent romantic suspense books, which tends to pit longtime fans against the newer ones who’ve just found her.
