I grew up watching her movies and TV series because my mother was a huge fan so I’ve been trying to put together a post on her for the last week or so. Then I ran across an article that pretty much says everything I’d say so here it is:
Very, very few classic film stars still remain with us. With the passing of Doris Day in May, that number sadly becomes even more minuscule. So, today we remember wonderful Doris Day movies in tribute.
12 MOVIES WITH DORIS DAY, QUEEN OF ROMANTIC COMEDIES
My personal favorite is probably a close tie between Glass Bottom Boat and The Thrill of It All with the second movie coming out slightly ahead. I mean Rock Hudson and her were great together but those movies tend to seem dated nowadays. The spy spoof nature of Glass Bottom Boat kind of negates that problem and straight man co-star Rod Taylor certainly helps with that. However nobody can do befuddled in comedies better than James Garner who makes the wackiness of The Thrill of It All seem believable. The pool stuff alone is unforgettable. And hilarious.
So here’s to one of my favorite old style movie stars. RIP Doris Day.
