But alas I shall have to wait. Until NEXT year. Bummer.
Well, I suppose I should share what has me all in a lather. It started with a post by Linnea Sinclair on Alien Romances about cover art. Which led me to the preview of the cover art for Games of Command.
So nice. I think I want one for my wall. 😀
Please note: For those familiar with her ebooks, this is apparently the reworked & expanded print version of Command Decision, which pretty much ties with Gabriel’s Ghost as my favorite by her. And that’s saying something. It should also have the rest of the story of Tasha & Kel-Paten . . . sigh.
Want NOW. Now I tell you.
Hmmm, wonder if I could snag an ARC somehow if, you know, I, uh, somehow managed to miraculously overcome my reviewing phobia . . .
An ARC of GAMES OF COMMAND, eh? Saying pretty things about my books AND my cover art (you DID notice my cat on the cover, yes? yes?) can often twist my arm. Contact me by email. Hugs, ~Linnea
You know, Kristie, I have no idea. ‘Course, I’ve never been completely sure what the publishers actually meant by futuristic romance anyway since most of them weren’t set in the future. 😀
I ended up with Accidental Goddess and Finders Keepers. They were the only two they had. And out of curiosity – what would be the difference between science fiction romance and futuristics?
Mailyn, barbarians are definitely hard. Er, that didn’t quite come out the way I meant it. Ahem. Anyway, I do love Sinclair’s books. I think they’re probably the best examples of true half romance/half science fiction I’ve ever run across. Good science fiction and good romance.
Kristie, yes, I should get an ARC out of that. Hehehe. Let me know which ones you get (got?) and what you think of them. My order of favorites are:
1. GABRIEL’S GHOST – one of the best use of first person for a reason I’ve ever run across and the book that actually convinced me that first person was to be occasionally tolerated.
2. COMMAND DECISION – any Star Trek: Next Generation fan will get an extreme kick out of Tasha and Kel-Paten. And for that matter, Eden and Jaze. Because they’re blatant spins on Tasha Yar, Data, Deanna Troi and possibly Will Riker, respectively, with their own quirks and problems. I just hope GAMES OF COMMAND lives up to the original.
3. ACCIDENTAL GODDESS – I loved the quirky premise of a space commander/advisor suddenly finding herself 300 years in the future and worshipped as a goddess.
4. FINDERS KEEPERS – also good entertainment and great romance but not as good as the others storywise.
5. WINTERTIDE – if she had published this one in print I’d probably try to forget it existed. Interesting fantasy story that’s essentially a prequel to ACCIDENTAL GODDESS but not nearly as good in the romance department as the rest.
Hmmmmmm – I followed the links and it is a very nice cover. Out of curiosity, I checked to see if any of her books were in stock at the book store near me. And guess what??? There is! And guess where I’m headed???? So, you can tell her you should get an ARC because you just sold a book or two for her. And I’ll be paying attention to a different section of the books store 🙂
oh that IS pretty! I have a few sci-fi/fantasy books on m TBR. I should be posting about them soon so I’ll let ya know if any of them are any good.
oh but I have no barbarians yet lol
