And the next series of books I’m going to check out after finishing the Charlie Chan series.
The Saint (Simon Templar) series by Leslie Charteris
They’re probably more adventure than mystery and usually that would not be my cup of tea. But I ran across the old Roger Moore series on Prime the other day. At first I thought, well, I’ll watch the first couple of episodes and see if I like them.
Now, I am absolutely hooked. Not sure if it’s the pre-James Bond Roger Moore, the rather quirky character he plays or both but I love it.
Templar kind of reminds me of a more jet-setting Campion. Definitely a little more on the wild side than Campion though.
Anyway, I’m enjoying the TV series enough to start wondering about the books it’s based on. (That seems to be something that’s happening with me a lot lately. Hmmm.) So, anyway, I started doing some research and ran across an intriguing site. I can’t figure out if it’s an official site or simply a fan generated one. But it’s packed with information.
One thing caught my attention immediately. There are several, er, a lot of Old-Time radio programs of The Saint. Definitely checking those out too. Although probably not until after I finish the Charlie Chan books (I’m on the last of the six) and at least try the first of The Saint novels.
I’m honestly not sure I want this weird reading phase I’m going through to be short-lived or not. I kind of like it.
