Or maybe that should be “found & lost” because first I found the Krentz book I was looking for several posts back. It’s Lady’s Choice and once I started looking it was fairly easy to find because there was a high-heeled shoe on the cover, front and back. What gets me is that the scene I was thinking of didn’t have her standing on his fancy car but his old beat up sedan. Everything else was as I was remembered, an excellent mating challenge with the heroine the one issuing the original challenge.
After I revisited it, I jumped rereading two best friends romances, one by Deborah Simmons called The Squire’s Daughter and the other by Stephanie Laurens called A Comfortable Wife. That last one is where I think I lost something again. I think. At least, I could almost swear that I’ve run across a similar plot point to one that’s in ACW – the heroine trying to show off her “wifely” abilities to run his estates in order to impress her old friend into marriage – in another book. What’s driving me nuts is that they’re both very different stories and yet similar so I’m not sure if I’m actually confusing them with each other or really thinking of a completely different book. Don’t you just hate it when plots start to blend together in your head? ;p
