I finally caved and decided to get a doctor’s appointment this afternoon, even though I’m better. Sort of. Well, I’m not coughing as much. I thought I was doing a lot better Tuesday but today I feel like whatever it is has moved into my chest. Not good. So I figured it wouldn’t be a bad idea to get it checked out anyway.
On another front, I seem to remember someone mentioned at one time that there was a way to play around with modifying a WordPress template away from your own blog. Anyone know where that was? Or how to do that? Cause that’s what I want to do at this point. I have some graphics I want to try but without being “active” here. Only now I can’t remember where I saw that discussed. Help. I’d look it up, but frankly I don’t feel like hunting for it, so humor me. 😀
Needless to say, what with Christmas and being sick I haven’t gotten a lot of reading done in the last few days anyway, but since we did the family DVD thing again this year the ones of those I’ve been watching have given me some ideas for a couple of thematic plot studies I may do here after the New Year. Here’s a hint about one: can you believe that my son got Superman Returns and I got Batman Begins this year and they were actually on our respective wish lists?!? There’s something wrong with a universe where that can happen . . . ;p
I was supposed to post on Romancing the Blog this weekend but have asked to postpone that due to being sick. I’m just not up to concentrating either on writing or moderating the post and I seriously doubt I’m going to be up to speed by Saturday. I do keep asking myself if I honestly do fit into that particular group. It’s difficult to explain, though, because I can’t exactly put my finger on what it is that makes me feel that way.
Roshan – you need to change the CHMOD permissions for the file containing themes (at least give yourself write permission). Then you would be able to modify the theme files from the WordPress Admin Dashboard.
Hey Bev, I haven’t visited ur site in a heck of a long time. Now, about modifying WordPress’s templates away from ur blog – I think I know what you mean! I downloaded the theme that I chose, did changes to it on my hard drive and then uploaded it via FTP into my web server. Cause when u access ur wpadmin account it won’t let your change the files there. So do what i do!
If this is what u wanted and it works out for u, e-mail me and let me know.
Cheers!
I’ve really gravitated toward the reader blogs because RTB doesn’t answer the questions that I have about publishing or reading or reading topics. The posts seemed much more directed at other authors. I can’t remember who it was, but the one post that really turned me off was the author who mocked the people who were emailing her. The fact that was appropriate told me that the blog is more directed to authors than readers.
I hope your feeling better.
Suisan, RTB problem–most authors don’t gear the columns for readers, and the bulk of the columnists are authors trying to be a little too clever.
May, I’ve the oposite problem, too many ideas and have a problem focusing on one every 6 weeks.
I know how you feel.
When I got the invite, I was like “Cool. An essay every 6 weeks or so? I can do that.” I didn’t actually *think* about it.
I really like the IDEA of Romancing the Blog, but I’m not connecting with the majority of the essays over there. Not really sure why, because I keep thinking that I’m just about to “get” what the author is saying. But then the essay finishes and I’m left with, “Huh?”
I must be too picky.
