Whether to be upset with myself or proud of myself because I got sucked into another discussion of reviews. Well, there’s some comfort in the fact that it wasn’t really about the unresolvable issue I truly hate to get mired in - that being what are reviews, what makes up a good review, etc. At least, I don’t think it was initially, anyway.
What will invariably suck me in nowadays is when people start acting as if readers should have the exact same concerns as authors and should therefore sympathize when their books are “attacked” but at the same time can’t possibly understand where authors are coming from because they’re only readers or worse “wannabe authors” in disquise. It’s like a red flag in front of my nose even though over the years I’ve seen variations of this one so many times I should know better than to want to respond at all.Â
Is it just me or have quite a few readers started to react to that one a lot more than they used to? I mean I can remember when I first got online that I might have not so much fell for that line but been swayed by it to some extent. Now, I’m just tired of hearing it and refuse to stay quiet when I do.
Hmmm, I think I need to go chill and read a book. 😀
Oh and, believe it or not, a lot of people are the same way on and off line. 🙂
LOL. my take again.
I am OK with reviews that trash books because they thought the book was horrible and should be illegal it was just so bad. What I think is stupid is reviews that focus more on trashing the author UNLESS the reviewer had a nasty personal run in with the author and is venting their frustration.
Then again, they should clearly state so. Being bitchy for the sake of it is dumb.
Me too.
I wonder if it’s the relative anonymity of the internet that’s helping it along.
