I bought not one but two trade paperbacks today. What is the world coming to?
Actually, it’s all Mark’s fault because he was with me at the store since he’d just had a doctor’s appointment and he was the one who brought them to my attention. Then I made a mistake of trying to explain that Luna was supposed to be a crossover line between romance and science fiction/fantasy. So, naturally, he had to ask why I wasn’t trying them . . . with this look in his eyes that said he would if I did.
Sons! They know us too well.
Oh, yes. The books. Well, they’re Soceress of Faith by Robin D. Owens and The Dawn Star by Catherine Asaro. All I can say is that they better be worth the trouble. Hehehe.Â
Thanks for the info, Nicole. I would have to weaken on the wrong books. 😀
I think The Dawn Star is the third in the series and Sorceress of Faith is the second in a series.
I really liked Sorceress of Faith and the book before it that I can’t remmeber the title to.
Racyli, the only other Asaro book I’ve read is THE QUANTUM ROSE and I really enjoyed it although it did seem a little strange in places but I just chalked that up to my not being all that used to reading science fiction in the first place. I think I have one of hers with HAWK in the title but I haven’t read it yet. (matriarchal society, I believe)
Cindy, I’m usually totally with you but sometimes I do enjoy dipping my toe into other types of plots. Helps if they have a good dollop of romance too, though. 😉
Mailyn, I’m probably going to try one of them this weekend. Currently, I’m finishing up a reread of another Krentz title. Thought I’d worked that particular craving out of my system for a while but it came back again this week.
One thing I’m still trying to figure out about both of the ones we got are whether they’re the first books in a group or not. Anyone know?
I’ve heard about Dawn Star, do let us know as I thought about adding it to my Wish List but damn it that thing just keeps growing. lol
Dang, wish I could help but I like my full portion of romance 😉

Catherine Asaro is one of my favorite authors but I have to say that I enjoyed Catherine Asaro’s earlier stuff about the Skolian Empire and Euban Wars (“Primary Inversion,” “The Last hawk”) then the stuff she’s writing now for Luna. Her earlier science fiction stuff, like Primary Inversion got her some good reviews in the Romantic Times
