Lately I’ve been watching YouTube reactions to the Harry Potter movies and they got me in the mood to start rereading the books. Keep in mind that I have read them all but it was around the time the last few were coming out. So it’s been years.
I have, however, watched and rewatched the movies. A lot.
So rereading just the first, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, was an eye-opener to say the least. Naturally, I thought I’d make some notes and post about it. What I wasn’t expecting was for my notes to simply be a list of…
Warning possible heavy spoilers ahead
The things I don’t remember after only watching the movies for the last 20 years
- Harry getting his own bedroom immediately after the letters addressed to the cupboard start arriving
- Harry & Hagrid taking public transportation through London
- Hagrid getting motion sickness riding the cart into the belly of Gringotts
- Harry first meeting Draco in robe shop in Diagon Alley
- Scabbers the rat attacked Goyle on the train when Draco & company were being annoying
- Peeves the poltergeist
- rule about first year students not having their own broomsticks… which is bent for Harry to play Quidditch
- Harry & Ron locked Hermione in with the troll by mistake
- Harry overhears Snape & Filch talking about a 3 headed dog & Snape’s leg injury
- Harry sees his entire extended family in The Mirror, not just his parents
- Norbert the dragon bites Ron’s hand & puts him in the hospital wing
- Harry & Hermione get caught coming back from taking the dragon to the top of the tower & Neville ends up in trouble with them instead of Ron
This was honestly so interesting that I think I’m going to do the same with each book because now I’m curious and have to finish the reread.
