I’ve been saving this picture since I went to the Superman Celebration in Metropolis in June this year because I knew Lois Lane’s “birthday” was coming up. What can I say, we spent a wonderful day there where of course I picked up some wonderful Superman swag:
- a Metropolis, Illinois, Superman swag bag to hold all the goodies in
- a small wooden jewelry box that has absolutely nothing to do with Superman but that has a gorgeous picture of woman (girl?) in period dress reading on the top
- three new Superman tee-shirts, all very different in style
- a new Superman mug
- The Kryptonite Companion, a compendium on Superman’s early years in the comics that I’d never seen before
- a graphic novel tie-in with Lois & Clark that I’ve also never heard of before
- a couple of Superman Metropolis magnets
- a Superman Metropolis keychain
- and my absolute favorite and new prized possession, a Silver Age boxed Superman and Lois Lane action figure set
The son and daughter also tagged along and collected their share of goodies and superhero stuff. We had fun just being “fans”. But if you want to know the truth, the only picture I truly wanted of myself (which you’re not seeing) was one standing beside the “Lois Lane” statue, not by the big guy in blue that stands right in front of the courthouse, which consequently makes a much better backdrop than a semi for pictures. o.O
That should tell you a lot about who my real hero is, though, even when I rattle on about Superman this and that. 😉
