For the last week or so I’ve been rereading one of my all-time favorite romance series – Shelly Laurenston’s Pride shifter series. I’m currently on the last and my favorite Bite Me with Vic and Livy. Yum.
One of the reasons I like her writing and that series in particular is that it makes me laugh. Which for me is comfort food. And after the month I’ve had with one illness after another that’s the antidote I needed. Other readers may want to cry. I want to laugh my head off.
Now I will admit that her characters and her humor aren’t going to be for everyone. Cause she does have a wacky view of the world, crazy characters and especially plays around with how shifters should behave. Or misbehave as the case may be. Also one of the things that I really love about this series is how she doesn’t fall into the regular romance trap of the “next in line from the gang” sequel that usually involve completely new settings. By introducing one or two new characters with each book, by the end of the series it almost feels like a completely new group of characters and yet all the old ones are still there and the setting is relatively unchanged. Romance world building?
Eh, just some thoughts off the top of my head as I attempt to get back into a posting routine.
