At the moment, I’m stuck between needing to run some errands and not having either the son or daughter available to stay with their grandfather so I have a few moments free to blog. I’m still trying to get into the habit of posting every day but have run into a snag in that I think I need an adjustment on my meds. Good thing I go back to see the neurologist next week. I haven’t had a major migraine since before Christmas so the stuff he put me on is working fine but I think I may need to come off of something else I’m onRead More →

I’ve been doing a lot of reading lately and not posting as much. Okay, I bought a bunch of books from Samhain the other day and will probably post about them after I finish the little mini-binge on them. In the meantime, I’ve been mulling an idea over in the back of my head for something I want to do on the blog as a way to focus on individual books in addition to my normal journal entries. It’s something I did on my old website and really had fun with but had sort of forgotten about until recently. Expect The Book Blurbs to appear in a decidedly irregular feastRead More →

A friend gave me a heads up about an article entitled Doomsday Kills Superman on DVD. Sounds interesting. Apparently, it’s the first in a line of animated movies DC Comics is doing based on some of their more famous storylines over the years. Can’t get much more famous than the Death and Life of Superman one from the 1990s. However, I have really mixed reactions to the idea of a PG-13 rating for a Superman DVD. I can see the advantages. I can see the disadvantages, too. I need to mull this over some more. Oh, and did I mention Spike, er, James Marsten, isRead More →

It happened again. I just read another romance with an abrupt ending. This is driving me nuts. Oh, shut up. All of you. Well, it’s either that or seriously start distrusting my own judgement and we can’t have that. ;p So, in light of that unnerving thought I’m going to post the titles of the last few books I’ve read – that I can actually remember at present because there are more I know – where this has happened and see if anyone out there agrees with me about the endings. Yea or nay will do fine, unless, of course, you wish to elaborate. WhichRead More →

I’ve been thinking for awhile now that I was going to start treating my blog more like a true personal journal and most days just try to spend some time writing something off the cuff for it. Most of it will be about books, naturally. ;p So here goes. I was out running an errand today and I swear I saved on gas because the wind almost blew me back home. Wow. March has arrived for sure. Not sure if this is the remnants of all the bad weather yesterday or what, but we went from blue skies a couple of hours ago to almostRead More →

I finished a romance the other day that I really enjoyed and suddenly realized that I had no idea what the pair was going to be doing. Like the next day. Much less ever after. Okay, maybe it wasn’t quite that extreme but I did feel a sense of “So, what happens now?” And did I mention that I really enjoyed this particular book? The romance was good. A new author find for me, in fact. I was simply left at the end without a clear picture of where the couple was going in the immediate sense. And, therefore, somewhat in the ever after sense,Read More →

For some reason, I seem to be stuck in link mode this week but what the hey it’s a blog. It’s that what they’re for? If not, they should be. ;p Ahem. Anyway, Lorelei James over on the Samhain Weblog had me chuckling with this little venting session in her post today on her double deadlines: Why is it so hard for people – mostly people who know me – to comprehend that I can create more than one way for my characters to make love throughout the course of a romance novel? I’ve been married for 21 years for crying out loud. But theseRead More →

Which probably isn’t wise but something Sybil asked started it so blame her. Anyway, I was thinking back and it suddenly occured to me that out of the dozen or so years I’ve been online, I’ve probably taken the time to read about three author interviews. In the light of other things I’ve said maybe that’s not surprising but I’m even talking interviews with authors I like to read. A lot. What’s strange is that if I know there’s actually some information there about the book, I can be bothered to dig it out, but I’m not going to just read the interview, top toRead More →

I have a post up today on Romancing the Blog so go check it out if you get a chance. I wrote rough drafts for two posts this time and had to decide between them on Sunday then ended up writing a completely new one. I’ve finally come to the conclusion that it’s best to go with whatever is on my mind at posting time. It’s what I do anyway. Hehehe.Read More →

A comment was made on Dear Author today that resonated with me a lot. I decided to vent about it here because I’m probably going to go off on a tangent from the discussion there and I know it so it was more appropriate to do it here. The comment that struck me was made by Janine in response to something Jane said in the original post there. Here are the two quotes: The problem with the patronage system and the whole idea of adopting an author, buying hardcover, buying new, is that it conflicts with the very idea that the reader is to formRead More →

Oh, get your minds out of the gutter. I’m not talking about that. I’m talking about story length. Yeah, I know, got you all excited and then ruined it, didn’t I? Well, deal with it and move on. ;p Anyway, the thing is, I was looking for some new ebooks on the Ebookwise site, I found myself getting irritated at having to wade through the “print” published books that I can already find on the store shelves in search of the shorter ones from the electronic publishers I was looking for in the first place. So irritated that I ended up having to go directlyRead More →

I picked up several books the other day while grocery shopping and can’t decide which to read first. Part of me wants to read the Laurens but I’m also in the mood for the Foster. Then there’s the paranormal anthology, which curiously enough has “Never Before Published” on the front cover. Both odd and good that, considering how many books are being reprinted nowadays. Maybe something one of you will say will help me decide which one to start off with after I tell you which ones they are. What Price Love by Stephanie Laurens – It’s strange but even knowing that Dillon, Demon HarryRead More →

That about sums it up, too. Because I have been reading a lot lately. Went through a Garwood binge and reread about seven of her books. Not one after another, mind you, but two or three at a time. In-between reading them I also reread a couple of others that and also managed to fit in an Ebookwise buying spree. I’ll try to sit down and tally up the entire list of books later today. What I’m wanting to share at the moment is that how anti-blogging I’ve been during all this. Oh, I’ve been lurking and browsing but not even doing much commenting andRead More →

I love playing computer strategy games and will sometimes spend my “reading time” on them when I’m not in the mood to pick up another book or watch TV. My favorite is the Civilizations series. I like Civilizations because it’s one of those games where you basically start from scratch and build everything up. It’s a long game though for that reason. One of my son’s favorites is Black & White but it took him a while to get me hooked on it. I think that was probably because it has a rather strange twist from the other games I’m used to. You see inRead More →
