I finally got over the cold I had before Christmas and made it through the holidays. Then I thought it was time to dig into working on this website again. The reorganization work I’m doing behind the scenes is going really well but it will be a long process. When I’m not working on that I have been reading a lot lately. After diving in head first and posting like mad to test out some features and plugins for the last month or so, I decided it’s time for the real blogging to begin. Sometime last year I realized how tired I was of endlessly discussing romance novels online. Yeah, there I said it. In the spirit of spring cleaning, I did something today I’ve been thinking of doing for some time. I don’t have much time this morning before some really bad weather is heading our way but I thought I’d take a few moments to list several of the changes I’ve made to the blog in the last few weeks as part of my reorganizing & simplification efforts this year. I’ve changed to a greatly streamlined theme with only one sidebar. For years now, I’ve used Readerware as my database for cataloging my books. I love Readerware even though there are probably better programs out there. It’s simply reliable, proven and easy to use. Recently, though, I’ve wanted to find an online database that I could use with the blog and finally settled on Goodreads. I’ve used LibraryThing in the past and never truly liked it. For some reason, Shelfari never impressed me past the “checking it out” stage. I’ve just added the WPTouch plugin to Bev’s Books that should allow at least some mobile readers to see content here. Since I’m not sure who will be able to see what or how it will look, yell out and let me know what you are able to see and how it looks on your end of things. That has to do with a new feature in the upgrade of WordPress called the QuickPress. . . . my old blog archive to here. Now, I have to finish unpacking everything, i.e. categorizing old posts. That may take a week or so but I figure if I do a few a day, it’ll happen eventually.
