Cause I’m sure there are some British superheroes in the comics but I’m drawing a blank.
Name any of today’s superheroes and you can bet they’ll be American. Iron Man, Wonder Woman, Spiderman: the list goes on and on. It’s easy to think we don’t have a single one to call our own this side of the Atlantic. But maybe we do.
Homegrown superheroes: which UK characters and legends should team up?
Oh, OK… that makes more sense.
This was actually a fascinating article to me for a number of reasons. Let’s see, we have Robin Hood, King Arthur, Beowulf, Prospero, Cuchulain & Sherlock Holmes mentioned. Mainly, that’s just a great list.
With one or two exceptions, of course.
First, no Boudica? Seriously? There has to be at least one female. Just saying. And she would fit the bill.
Second, Beowulf is English? OK, I’ll grant the poem was written in England, but the main character is… not English. Is he? I don’t remember where exactly he was supposed to be from in the poem but I don’t believe it was England.
Also, third, and just because, no Doctor Who? Ok, again, technically he’s not English but one could argue that he thinks he is.
Heh.
What? Did anyone think I would find a great article about superheroes and mythology and not comment on it?
