Because I’ve waited long enough to talk about it since we saw it the day it went online. And if you haven’t seen it, then– Stop right now and go watch it before reading further. Just saying. I warned you! So I’m waiting. Still waiting. Seen it yet? Okay, we good? Anyway, if you haven’t watched any of this amazing little series then shame on you. Because it’s worth it. And that’s not something I thought I’d ever say when people online started raving about, well, a baby Yoda. Okay, now that the warning part is out of the way, I will admit that IRead More →

And, yeah, I did watch it but I ain’t talking about it. So I found a review that says pretty much what I’m thinking and more:  To be fair I have actually read some good comments online about it. For the most part, I think it’s just so different from the first Wonder Woman movie that it suffers – a lot – by comparison. Like, really a lot.Read More →

some not so deep thoughts for the New Year

It wasn’t until after the holidays that I realized just how much I had needed the time off. I’m not sure if it was just this last crazy year or that I simply needed some time to think. Could be either or both. Whatever, I definitely feel much more in the right frame of mind to write stuff for the site now.  But I also believe the need to take a break and just think is something we all need to do occasionally. Even when blogging about something you love to talk about all the time in the first place. One of the romance bloggersRead More →

I wasn’t even sure I was going to do a post this week. Or over the holidays. Because to be honest, I’m in a big reading mood. Okay a flat out binge of just about all my Shelly Laurenston books. Some other authors too.  And every time I think about writing a post on any of them… well, I go back to reading instead. So I think I may simply work on background stuff for the next week or two. Anyway, don’t expect any in-depth posts until after the New Year. Maybe links. Maybe nothing. Whatever.  However, and speaking of links, I found out somethingRead More →

I haven’t had a lot of time to work on posts this week because… holiday season. But I ran across an excellent post regarding one of my favorite SG1 episodes and thought I’d share. Okay, let’s face it, Window of Opportunity is probably everyone’s favorite. Or at least every fan’s favorite. It’s just perfection. And reading (and watching) the background behind how this one came about is absolutely fascinating. First the post for you to go read: If you’re interested, make sure to watch the embedded video for even more details. Caution there are some spoilers ahead for SG1: Window of OpportunityYou have been warnedRead More →

I’m not all that crazy about sit-coms. Never have been. I mean, when we still had traditional TV access, I would occasionally watch one enough to know the characters. But usually those were the fad-of-the-moment that everyone else was watching too. At least a little. You know the ones you can’t get away from because everyone is talking about them. Think Friends or Happy Days or, oh, yeah, MASH is another good one. But it’s rare that I actually became enough a fan of the average run of the mill sit-com to watch start to finish, every single episode, rain or shine, good or bad. Read More →

This topic first came up when I was listening to an episode of All About Agatha. Then my recent experience with the Sherlock Holmes inspired Enola Holmes made me think about it some more. So I had to do some research. This was the episode of All About Agatha that caught my attention: Anthony Horowitz has his own novels. But it fascinates me that he also can manage to pass the test of writing characters created by someone else. Apparently from several different character brands. He wrote some of the Poirot episodes. And has also written new books about both James Bond and Sherlock Holmes.Read More →

the eye-catching name I recently ran across a movie on Netflix called Enola Holmes, which was an eye-catching name I admit. Then I noticed it was based on books so I did some research. It’s loosely based on the first book in a series of young adult novels by Nancy Springer. They are about a very much younger sister of Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes. The more I read about them the more I really was intrigued. Not enough to watch the movie… yet… but the interest was definitely there.  I finally got curious enough to get the first book, The Case of the Missing Marquess.Read More →

Finally had time to watch the new Scooby Doo movie called SCOOB! last weekend. I enjoyed it and laughed a lot. It was a nice update of the characters and setting while honoring the past. At times, it almost felt like a Hanna Barbara smorgasbord to be honest. It was actually kind of amazing how many HB characters they managed to fit into the movie, either as full roles, cameos or just Easter egg “blink & you miss them” mentions. And yet that aspect never felt forced to me. It was just fun and a little nostalgic. But not in an intrusive way at all. Okay,Read More →

As I mentioned in a recent post, I recently finished a pretty much yearly rewatch of Stargate SG1. Even the follow-up movie Arc of Truth. The only thing I haven’t rewatched yet is the Continuum movie. Not totally sure I’m going to, either, because, not my favorite.  Anyway, all this Stargate binging got me to thinking that I needed to work on a favorites page for one of my all-time favorite TV series. So that’s been my focus for this week and Stargate (TV series) is now a page. While doing some research for that, though, I ran across a few videos I wanted toRead More →

I was feeling horrible the last part of last week. Nothing major but I think my allergies finally got me down to the point I was feeling like I had a sinus infection. So basically I spent the weekend chilling and reading. Honestly, I just started feeling like doing anything at the computer in the last day. And that was only to finally get some much needed site maintenance done. Hopefully I can get some writing done tomorrow. But at this point I ain’t promising anything specific. Just saying.Read More →

Stargate SG1

why I love Stargate a lot more than Star Trek nowadays

I’ve been thinking about this for awhile, off and on. Most recently while re-watching some Stargate SG1 episodes. For the umpteenth time.  And it’s not that I don’t still love Star Trek! Because I’m a longtime fan of almost all variations of Star Trek. My favorite is probably Star Trek: The Next Generation. For a lot of reasons. Just saying that up front before the next paragraph.  However while I “grew up” with Star Trek and love it, I think I may have outgrown it. Why? The short answer? The Star Trek universe can get a bit… well, I don’t want to say repetitive but that’sRead More →
