reading humor
Early in the week I was able to get some behind the scenes stuff done but yesterday my son had a routine medical procedure scheduled and as a result I’ve been very distracted and busy the last couple of days. So I thought I’d keep it simple and dug around on Pinterest for some reading related humor. EnjoyRead More →
All My Favorites page is live!
I was able to carve out some time this afternoon to start work on this project and got two pages formatted and one backlist post reformatted & updated. More done than I thought I would. Check them out: All My Favorites Shelly Laurenston (author) Shelly Laurenston backlist with commentary I’m keeping things simple but I think this is going to work. Onwards and upwards!Read More →

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde 1941 movie
So, right after Halloween, my son sent the following video to me because he found it fascinating how most of the media “hulking out” (his words) incarnations aren’t that close to the book story: After watching the video, I told him that I’d always thought the 1941 movie with Spencer Tracy, of all people, in the title role has always creeped me out the most because the transformation Dr. Jekyll goes through was way more psychological than other versions I’ve seen. I’m not even certain they did all that much in terms of makeup changes when he transformed. It seems to be mostly acting. IRead More →
What’s your popular fiction “comforting anchor”?
I’ve decided to focus this month on working on some “behind the scenes” projects and general maintenance so what posts I do manage to write will probably be fairly short. Mainly, there’s one project I’ve been thinking about for a while which is creating pages for My Favorite Things so the last week or so I’ve been playing around with how I want to format those. Another project I’m working on is expanding the About page. In the meantime, I ran across an article about combining genres and thought I’d share because I thought the opening paragraph was very intriguing: From a writer’s perspective, theRead More →
Halloween with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (DVD)
Because it’s Halloween, I got in the mood to rewatch the Harry Potter movies. Then I decided to record my random observations, at least during the first movie. Read and remember. That is if you’ve read the books or seen the movies. If not– SPOILERS AHEAD! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! I’ve organized this according to the scene titles from the DVD for clarity. Also because I wanted to post this on Halloween I ran out of time and only linked to a few images so I may come back and add more later. 1. Doorstep Delivery what exactly is the point of turning all theRead More →
12 Labours of Hercules games
I’m not a hardcore gamer, especially when it comes to computer games. I love Legends of Zelda and various Lego games on other platforms but most of what I play on the computer is very casual stuff and that’s why I love Big Fish Games, a source of lots of casual gaming. One of my favorite series through Big Fish is the 12 Labours of Hercules, which are basically time management games with varying difficulty levels including casual with no time limits. I did mention the casual part, didn’t I? Since I noticed there was a new game out in the series I thought itRead More →
Superman collectible find (and WOT update)
Quick WOT update first. I finished Book 3 The Shadow Rising and started on Book 4 The Fires of Heaven after a weekend break. I’m working on a WOT related post where I interview my son about being a die-hard fan of the series but that’s on hold until I can pin him down to talk about it. Now on to one of my personal fan obsessions. (Although not as obsessed as he is about WOT.) I love this print and want it for Christmas! When I first ran across it I didn’t see the Dean Cain Superman so I passed over it. Then IRead More →
The National Weather Service is 129 years old today
During a particularly busy and stressful week with nothing else ready to post I noticed the National Weather Service (NWS) doing a lot of posts related to the fact that the NWS is observing an anniversary on October 1. So I thought a quick link post about the NWS would be fun today since I’m a weather spotter in real life and love all things related to weather anyway. Please note that a weather spotter is not a storm chaser. Weather spotting is simply about knowing what to look for wherever or whenever and reporting it as needed. Some localities and organizations, however, do more,Read More →
Haunted Bookshop series (and taking a break from WOT)
In short, I finished Wheel of Time (WOT) #3: The Dragon Reborn and took a break to listen to the third book in the Haunted Bookshop cozy mystery series by Cleo Coyle (or Alice Kimberly because some editions have that name ??). About Haunted Bookshop series I really, really enjoyed The Ghost and the Dead Man’s Library. I think she’s getting better. That’s not to say the first two weren’t good but the first, The Ghost and Mrs. McClure, was more involved with setting the scene and getting to know the characters. Those being that Penelope Thornton-McClure goes into the bookstore business with herRead More →
Doctor Who and the Time War impact
I ran across “Doctor Who: The Time War Was Genius (& Moffat Made It Even Better)” on Screen Rants and was left rather bemused. Maybe because Screen Rants is rather hit and miss with me. But I agree with this one even though I hadn’t thought about it that way before. Put it this way, I’m a big fan of the new Doctor Who but have tried to watch the classic version and just… can’t. Maybe if I skipped to later seasons it would work for me but starting at the very beginning does not. Nope. No way. I’d never really thought about how the TimeRead More →
finished Wheel of Time Book 2: The Great Hunt
Just a quick post to say I finished book 2 and started book 3. Oh, and to share this video I found about the mythology of The Wheel of Time series. It explained so much I was confused about!Read More →
finished Wheel of Time Book 1: The Eye of the World
Several weeks ago I talked about starting to listen to Robert Jordan’s Wheel of Time books on Audible because of a promise to my son. He is a devoted fan that has author signed hardbacks, collectibles & tee-shirts. He’s also so excited that they’re finally making a Wheel of Time TV series and wants me to watch it with him when it airs. Big puppy dog eyes are involved here. So I’ve committed to reading, OK, listening to the entire series and I’m enjoying it way more than I thought I would. I’ve already finished book one, The Eye of the World, reached the middleRead More →

I found this online and love them: But it reminded me that I don’t believe I’ve ever shared my action figures that I got at Metropolis, Illinois, one year. One of these days I may open the box to find that kryptonite …Read More →
