Over the weekend I started re-watching my DVDs of Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. It’s been several years since I actually watched them and I was curious whether they would hold up. Wow. Just watching Terri Hatcher and Dean Cain interact as Lois & Clark is still a joy to behold. Those two have unbelievable chemistry. Yes, I said have because I saw a Comic-con interview of them from 2018 or 2019 and it’s still there. 25 years later. Oh, there are other TV series that I loved before and after but Lois & Clark is special to me for a lotRead More →

Even when they are attempting to be dead serious. I ran across a vintage cover of an Agatha Christie book I just had to share because, besides being an old one ($.25?) I hadn’t seen, she’s being strangled by… the Hulk??? Which stopped me dead in my tracks. I mean her skin tone is pretty normal even if she does have a slightly green tint so this isn’t an aging thing going on. The hands strangling her are very green though.Read More →

I haven’t done a Doctor Who related post lately so when I ran across an article that made me want to argue with it, I knew the time had come. There have been many different Doctors on Doctor Who, and with them many companions. Here are ten times the companions were stronger than the Doctor. Ask any Whovian who the best companion is and they will have a well thought out list of reasons why their favorite is the right choice. However, ask about the strongest and the debate changes a bit. Apparently, it’s going to have a cinema release in Australia but will also be on Acorn TV eventually. The dates seem weird but this is also from Wikipedia so take it with a grain of salt: Miss Fisher and the Crypt of Tears will have its World Premiere at the Palm Springs International Film Festival January 4, 2020. The film will then be released in Australia by Roadshow Films February 27, 2020 and will screen in the US in select theaters and on streaming service Acorn TV in March 2020. Over the holidays, my son and I managed to binge on not one, not two, but three first seasons of original streaming TV series. I may never get my sleep schedule back in shape but at least he’s gone back to work and won’t be dragging me into late night binges anytime soon. I hope.  Anyway, the three series we binged were all good. Either that or I’m sleep deprived and lacking in judgement. Which is why I’m keeping this short and may write more on each individual series after I catch up on sleep. The Witcher (Netflix) This one was at my son’s insistenceRead More →

first posted October 30, 2018 I thought it was time I made a list, kinda, of all the Scooby-Doo videos I have in my collection. Consider it a sampler because there are many more if one starts digging. I watch them all year long but do sometimes binge at Halloween. This is mostly in chronological order. Read More →

I haven’t done any Wheel of Time related posts lately, mainly because I haven’t been reading/listening to the books. Hopefully I’ll be able to get back to them over the holidays. But since they’ve made several casting announcements recently I thought I’d mention the one yet to be announced casting choice that seems to concern fans the most. That would be for Bela, the horse that leaves Two Rivers with our protagonists at the beginning of the series and somehow manages to pop up periodically over the rest of the books. I’m not kidding, this is a very serious topic with die-hard fans. It’s bizarreRead More →

Well, you can. For several years I’ve been following a webcomic by Yale Stewart called JL8. It started all the way back in November 2011 but here’s the most recent panels as an example: Here’s the description from the website: “JL8” is an award-winning webcomic from cartoonist Yale Stewart. It follows the adventures of popular DC comic characters as children in elementary school. Mostly funny, with a dash of pathos, it should be an enjoyable read for any fans of DC Comics characters as well as people who enjoy the traditional syndicated comic strip. “JL8” is not related to DC Comics in any way, and isRead More →

So I had a rabbit hole experience when I ran across an article on a novella called The Madness of Frankenstein by Derrick Ferguson which was labeled as New Pulp. My brain ground to an immediate halt because, while I could kind of guess, I wanted to know exactly what New Pulp was. So, of course, I searched for an explanation and found a publisher site that just blows my mind.  a new old thing OK, first the definition of New Pulp:  What is New Pulp?  For Pro Se, the explanation is fairly simple.  New Pulp is fiction written with the same sensibilities, beats of storytelling, patterns of conflict,Read More →

Right after Thanksgiving I completely lost control of my schedule for various reasons. So I haven’t had much time to work on the site lately. While I’m working on untangling my routine I thought I’d do a quick update post.  Last week, I managed to start rereading on of my favorite series – Shelly Laurenston’s Pride Stories. The first book in that series starts at Christmas so I usually get in the mood to revisit the entire thing over the holidays. Yeah, I’m kind of a month early but after the week or so I’ve had I needed the pick-me-up. So there. Oh, and sinceRead More →
