I ended up buying three new books during one trip to the grocery store. No surprise there, but what I find fascinating is the extremely divergent selection I made in just those three. Who says romances are all the same?
First up is Men of Courage II, an anthology collection from Harlequin’s new Signature Select Collection. All three stories are located in the same Ohio town and center on a tornado hitting the town but don’t seem to intersect people-wise. I’ve already read the first – An Honorable Man by Lori Foster, a guilty pleasure of mine but more on that in the future probably. It was a very good, short read and I expect to enjoy the other two, Blown Away by Donna Kaufman and Perilous Waters by Jill Shalvis, when I find to time to read them.
Next is an interesting and intriguing find in Seal Island by Kate Brallier. I’m not at all familiar with the author so I have no idea what to expect but the truly intriguing part is that the spine labels it a Tor Romance. Hmmm . . .
And, finally, I also got Mr. Impossible by Loretta Chase, which actually is rather an aberration for me because she’s not an author I pick up a lot. Her books have always been hit and miss with me – I’m still scratching my head over the idea that a great many romance readers think her Lord of Scoundrels is the best all-around romance of any year, oh, it’s good, it’s just not that good – but I’ve heard so many people rave about Mr. Impossible that I had to try it. I hope I haven’t made a major mistake.
