Family, heh

Editing note: I’m reposting this because I had a “duh” moment and realized how to place the image in the post.   Oh, not mine. It’s just that considering all the hoopla and angst surrounding the situation with Superman in the comics, a LOL about Batman I just read literally made me laugh until I cried: The Batman Family Story Seriously, it just sort of puts the entire thing into perspective, ya know. Poor Bats. Women trouble is the least of his problems. ROTFL. Which is always why I question his “loner” label. Right. The guy who has surrounded himself with an entire passel of dependents and other assorted attachments is a loner? Come again? And on another note, what’s with the sword in that next to last panel? That does not … Read entire article »

Telling stories with pictures

I had already decided I wasn’t going to comment on the topic of the Superman/Wonder Woman hook-up, because frankly I’m not all that invested in the outcome one way or another. This rather odd storyline will in no way impact the way I feel about Superman or Lois Lane no matter how long or short lived it is. As far as I’m concerned. I still have the “products” I already love to rewatch and reread and what they’re doing just doesn’t involve the characters I love but some other people I don’t know. Is that short-sighted? Maybe. But, you know, fans and consumers have that lee-way. They can pick and choose. In reading some of the comments over the last couple of days, though, I realized that my perspective as a romance … Read entire article »

Not much more to say

I’m a man who can fly, but it’s this woman who sweeps me off my feet. There’s really not much more to say. Anything else is just a copy. Happy Birthday, Lois Lane

I’ve been saving this picture since I went to the Superman Celebration in Metropolis in June this year because I knew Lois Lane’s “birthday” was coming up. What can I say, we spent a wonderful day there where of course I picked up some wonderful Superman swag: a Metropolis, Illinois, Superman swag bag to hold all the goodies in a small wooden jewelry box that has absolutely nothing to do with Superman but that has a gorgeous picture of woman (girl?) in period dress reading on the top three new Superman tee-shirts, all very different in style a new Superman mug The Kryptonite Companion, a compendium on Superman’s early years in the comics that I’d never seen before a graphic novel tie-in with Lois & Clark that I’ve also never heard of before a couple of Superman … Read entire article »

sadieblodgett: [Superman vol 2 #62] Remember when Clark lost his memory and Lois tried to bring it back by kissing him…  Meanwhile Emil’s attempts to cockblock her were futile. I love this scene, but the dormant Lois & Clark fan fiction writer in me immediately has to wonder what the heck Emil and that critter in the gold and blue suit are doing on what looks to be a deserted island with them. Kind of kills the mood. Heh, maybe it isn’t as dormant as I thought. Superman Homepage – News: November 4, 2010: Update on Noel Neill’s Health

November 4, 2010: Update on Noel Neill’s Health Noel Neill’s friend and biographer Larry Thomas Ward sent out the following open letter to let Noel’s fans know how she’s coming along after fracturing her hip in recent months. Dear Friends, As an update regarding Noel’s health, I am happy to report that her hip fracture has healed. She can now gingerly walk with assistance – mostly with a walker – but continues to be in constant danger of falling. She does walk with a noticeable limp. She has, however, developed other serious health concerns – most notably severe arthritis in both hips – that will not be healed as quickly, if at all. Just so you know, Noel’s personal appearance days are now over. At this time, Noel remains in her Tucson home, … Read entire article »

My hero(ine)

(Quick update: The Superman Homepage website that I’ve linked to several times in this post is changing servers so the links may not work for a couple of days, which meant I had to load the image from another source but eventually the text links will work. I hope. If not I will tweak them in a day or so. ) Would it sound totally crass and tacky of me to say that when I saw this picture of the original Lois Lane, Noel Neill, my eyes were immediately fixated on her belt buckle? Wow. Okay, so I’m a fan and a collector. I plead the fifth. Or something. But doesn’t she look good for someone 90? What you have to keep in mind is that she’s the original not because she was Lois in … Read entire article »
