Ten Nights of Love: Linnea Sinclair
Next up here I have a special treat. I was digging around some old electronic files recently and found some things that I treasure almost as much as some of my old paperbacks. A lot of people nowadays know about a book called Games of Command by Linnea Sinclair. But do they know about or have the original story that appeared as an e-book called Command Performance from before she made it to the big time in print? I do, plus several of her other books in their original e-book form. Anyhow, I bring all this up to point out that prior to say, about, oh, 2001, I’d most likely already bought some e-books off the Internet but I wasn’t all that sold on the practice. To say it was a … Read entire article »

Oh, wow
I finished Games of Command by Linnea Sinclair last night and have to admit I was just blow away by how she back-tracked and expanded the story. It wasn’t at all what I expected. It was so much better. Tighter. Developed. Put it this way, for those that have read Command Performance in ebook, the thought that went through my mind after the point they got stranded on the planet was “Toto, we’re not in Kansas anymore.” That about sums up the changes as far as I can see but in no ways spoils anything either. Now, maybe later after I’ve had time to fully digest it or even read it again, I may pull out the old checklist and tell you more about what I thought. In the … Read entire article »

Ooooo, pretty . . . I want NOW!
But alas I shall have to wait. Until NEXT year. Bummer. Well, I suppose I should share what has me all in a lather. It started with a post by Linnea Sinclair on Alien Romances about cover art. Which led me to the preview of the cover art for Games of Command. So nice. I think I want one for my wall. Please note: For those familiar with her ebooks, this is apparently the reworked & expanded print version of Command Decision, which pretty much ties with Gabriel’s Ghost as my favorite by her. And that’s saying something. It should also have the rest of the story of Tasha & Kel-Paten . . . sigh. Want NOW. Now I tell you. Hmmm, wonder if I could snag an ARC somehow if, you know, I, uh, … Read entire article »

Linnea Sinclair’s paperbacks & a question . . . okay a rant really
I recently got a promo from Amazon for The Truth About Love by Stephanie Laurens (Vane’s brother-in-law’s book) and while online ordering it, I suddenly remembered that I’ve never ordered Linnea Sinclair’s paperbacks. Part of my procrastination on this has to do with fear that being published in print will ruin her voice but on that day I was in the right mood I guess so decided to bite the bullet. First, though, I checked to make sure they weren’t trade paperbacks. Mini-rant here – I really HATE trade size paperbacks particularly when publishers don’t come out with mass market editions quickly. Here’s a question, I can understand publishing stand alone books as trade but why in the world do publishers do books in the middle of series that way? There … Read entire article »

An interesting week to finally get back online
September 21st, 2007 | 2 Comments
The first thing I found out Monday was that Robert Jordan, author of The Wheel of Time fantasy/science fiction series, had died. Bummer. Especially for my son, who is a such big fan. He’s actually met the man several times at signings so he’s been rather depressed about it all week. (I’d link to it but I’d misplaced the report I had saved, so just do a search for around last Sunday on that name and you should get something.) On the flip side, I got the message that Linnea Sinclair is doing an interview with Admiral Branden Kel-Paten and is asking for readers to submit questions. If you don’t know who I’m talking about, where have you been hiding? Hehehe. And then I get on today and run across an interesting discussion over … Read entire article »
