Harlequin Presents: Hidden Object of Desire
I couldn’t resist. Particularly after I found out I already had a game point from Big Fish Games that allowed me to get it for free, so I went ahead and got that Harlequin Presents: Hidden Object of Desire that I was Oh my word-ing about several posts back. So, here’s the scoop and keep in mind – I don’t do reviews. As a hidden object game, which is basically a memory challenge, it’s not bad. Pretty normal for the type, actually. Although my son was rather, um, struck, shall we say, that there were no time limits or other conditions that actually allow one to lose. I keep telling him the puzzles weren’t bad but he only rolls his eyes at what he saw as the insult to romance … Read entire article »

Curiouser and curiouser?
Is anyone else watching the Alice mini-series that’s the “grown-up version” of Alice In Wonderland/Through The Looking Glass showing on SyFy this week? I am primarily because I absolutely loved the Tin Man they did last year based on The Wizard of Oz. That was last year, wasn’t it? Anyway, I absolutely loved that and fully intend to get it on DVD eventually. Oh, it had it’s bad points but it was so imaginative I can forgive those just for the storytelling experience. It was also longer, six or eight hours or more maybe while this one is only four, plus I’m a much bigger fan of the Oz characters & universe than I am of Alice. So, I can’t figure out if all of that is why the first two hours last … Read entire article »

Wow, that was good
The Monk finale last night was possibly the best I’ve seen in a long time and that’s saying a lot. I’ll admit I hadn’t been watching the series full time for the last few years but did catch several of the final episodes as they wrapped up the major threads and I think they did a fantastic job overall. But the finale itself? Truly, wow. At the very least, it ranks up there with the some of the very best in terms of being appropriate for the main character and simply right for the type of series it was. No flash and bang but just a great send-off for a solid series while at the same time leaving things open for the possibility of future TV movies if that’s where they want to go with it. Which is never a bad … Read entire article »

A Sexy Shifter collection
Okay, so this week I found out my several year shapeshifter binge wasn’t over when I splurged on several titles as Samhain that have that theme. Do you see me worried? No, you do not. One set of stories I picked up is introduced thusly, according to a post entitled Dreamy Steamy Shape-shifters: What if you had a shot at just one wild night with the man of your dreams, the one you always thought was out of reach? What would happen if a dream lover you thought was nothing more than a nocturnal fantasy showed up in real life? What if you found out the guy you’d been dreaming about since you were sixteen had been dreaming about you all along? As to the individual stories, I’m still working my … Read entire article »

Oh, wow
I finished Games of Command by Linnea Sinclair last night and have to admit I was just blow away by how she back-tracked and expanded the story. It wasn’t at all what I expected. It was so much better. Tighter. Developed. Put it this way, for those that have read Command Performance in ebook, the thought that went through my mind after the point they got stranded on the planet was “Toto, we’re not in Kansas anymore.” That about sums up the changes as far as I can see but in no ways spoils anything either. Now, maybe later after I’ve had time to fully digest it or even read it again, I may pull out the old checklist and tell you more about what I thought. In the … Read entire article »

Return of the Warrior
This is the first book I’ve read in months that I literally devoured in one gulp. Yeah, that just about sums it up . . . so much so that I’m almost tempted to stop right there. I won’t simply because that would be cheating. Right? Well, right? Okay, okay. Here’s the quick summary interspersed with why I liked this one so much. (And this is as close to a review as I get so enjoy. ;-p) Return of the Warrior (2005-05) is a second in Kinley MacGregor’s Avon Books medieval romance Brotherhood of the Sword group and I didn’t mind at all that I might have missed anything. Primarily because I don’t think I did miss anything because this one felt like a true spin-off even if a pre-planned one. I can live with … Read entire article »
